Project Overview
The Plan App was designed for fun and practice from a brief online. I was to design a mobile app that allows event organizers to manage tasks that are coordinated between multiple teams. The app design was to contain the following minimum functionality:
User can create and assign new tasks
User can make requests to another team
User can raise an alert if a problem occurs, keep track of the progress for all tasks assigned
Demographics
I found a lot of interesting information about event planners, but these two bits stood out. I wanted this to be project management software for event planners. Let’s assume they’re mostly women in their thirties.
Making up a brand
I did some quick exploration of potential company names. Some examples ideas I decided against were Gold Room, Good Times, Tasker and Taski. I landed on “Plan” as a name because I wanted something simple that would easily indicate what the app was for.
Colors
For the brand color palette I wanted something bold, fun, a little feminine and I did some image searches and found a good piece of color inspiration. I sampled from this shot and tweaked the colors a bit to land on my final palette.
Type & Iconography
While choosing type I wanted the same qualities. Bodoni is one of my favorite typefaces and seemed to fit the bill. I found Butler; a font that’s really similar but pushes the contrast in stroke thickness a little further. I leveraged resources like Apple’s SF Symbols icon set for most of the iconography used.

High-fidelity and Prototyping
All of the screens are clickable to get the feel of this as though it would be an actual app. Some features aren’t clickable yet. Try it out
